Cooperación Galega (Xunta de Galicia) has formalized the financing of the project “Cross-border strengthening of emergency management in the event of floods and inundations in southern Peru with the participation of teams from Bolivia.” This financing is part of the Microproxectos 2025 call for proposals.
The project will be carried out by Briegal, whose team is scheduled to leave for Peru on Sunday, November 23

Objectives and Approach
The project focuses on mitigating the vulnerability of southern Peru to flash floods and flooding by developing technical and operational capabilities. The intervention has a key cross-border component, as it includes the participation and coordination of teams from the Republic of Bolivia.
Funding from the Regional Government of Galicia will enable the following lines of action to be addressed:
- Technical Training: Specialized training for intervention personnel in whitewater rescue techniques.
- Operational Coordination: Development and implementation of mechanisms to ensure effective coordination between response teams in Peru and Bolivia.
- Equipment: Donation of specialized equipment necessary for the implementation of rescue and emergency management tasks in the field.
This cooperation effort seeks to contribute to better regional preparedness and response to natural disasters, improving the safety and resilience of affected communities.
