On the 26th of June, a major disaster drill took place in the old Sánchez Aguilera barracks in Ferrol, an activity included in the training program of the Briegal rescue group. The event, which aimed to simulate the explosion of a tanker truck loaded with hazardous substances parked in a residential area, involved groups of Firefighters Ferrol, Navantia Firefighters, Firefighters Narón, NGO Acción Norte, Canine Rescue Unit of the Principality of Asturias, Association of Rescue Cans of Galicia and Briegal, in addition to the collaboration of the City Council of Ferrol, Cruz Vermella and several companies related to the emergency sector.
The exercise consisted of a search and rescue work during 12 hours in an uninterrupted way in which the groups are placed at the service of the Command Post, which coordinates their actions in different work sites.
The following tasks were carried out:
- Confined space rescue

On the one hand, our team continues to strengthen its rescue capabilities and on the other hand, we share work dynamics with other groups, always positive to learn other dynamics and to improve coordination if necessary.
